Voice

Pick any voice on your phone

Lists every speech engine and voice installed (Google, Samsung, and others), online or offline. Preview with one tap, then choose. Speed and pitch sliders on top.

Tone

Reads with the right tone

Every sentence is analysed on the device before it is spoken: questions lift, warnings slow down and firm up, sad passages soften, headings get a pause. Set the intensity, or switch it off.

Reading

Follow along, jump anywhere

The current sentence is highlighted as it is read. Tap any sentence to start from there, drag to any page, and keep listening with the screen off using the notification controls.

Private

Nothing leaves your phone

No account, no upload, no tracking. PDFs are read locally and the app remembers where you stopped in each document.

What the tone engine listens for

Thirteen moods, driven by structure, punctuation and English + Indonesian vocabulary:

Install

  1. Download the APK with the button above.
  2. Open the file. When Android asks, allow installs from this source (Chrome or your file manager). This is required for any app outside the Play Store.
  3. Open PDF Voice Reader, tap the folder icon and pick a PDF. You can also share a PDF to the app from any file manager.
  4. Tap Voice to choose an engine and voice, then press play.
Needs a text-to-speech engine, which almost every Android phone ships with (Google Speech Services). For more natural voices, open Settings → Accessibility → Text-to-speech and download extra voices for your language. Scanned PDFs without a text layer are skipped.
